Everything good starts below grade.
The overview

What it is, and why it matters.

Most hardscape problems start with ground that was never prepared properly: soft spots, fill that was not compacted and slopes that send water toward the house. We survey the grade with lasers, remove unsuitable soil, add and compact engineered fill where needed, shape the surface to drain and leave a firm, even subgrade that the base and surface can rely on.

Nashville soils range from rocky ridges to sticky clay. We test, adapt and tell you honestly what the ground needs. Good grading also protects your home: positive slope away from the foundation is the single cheapest way to keep water out of a crawl space or basement.

Good questions

Grading & Site Preparation: common questions

How much slope should be away from my house?

A common guideline is about six inches of drop over the first ten feet, a five percent slope. Some lots cannot achieve it, and drains can fill the gap.

Can you fix a yard that floods?

Usually, through regrading, drains and sometimes swales or dry wells. We find the cause and plan accordingly.
